Kellan's First Annual Celebrational Day of Birth!

We can hardly believe it's already been a year since Kellan entered the world.  How much he's changed!  Here's the very first picture ever taken of him (courtesy of Daddy's cell phone):

And here's Kellan one year later:
So, who do you think he looks more like - Mommy or Daddy?

By the end of the day, Kellan was beat. He'd never fallen asleep in his high chair before, but sleep overcame him:

Hey, it's hard being 1!

The next day, we were going to celebrate Kellan's birthday with family, but we had to reschedule because Kellan had developed a bit of a cold.  Not to have the day be completely devoid of celebration, Grandma Jean (who'd stayed the night before) had Kellan open one of her gifts:
Here Kellan, Daddy will just start it for you.

OK, now you finish tearing it open

The paper's so colorful and smooth

I see you eyeing my birthday paper, but it's mine!  Keep your hands over there!

Awesome, a dino shirt!  I will look SO COOL at daycare...

Oh my goodness, are those PANTS?!?!?

Look, it's sized for big boys like me!

Thanks, Grandma Jean!  I am totally stylin', don't you think?
(by the way, notice the similarity in the eyebrows? heehee)

As mentioned above, Kellan developed a cold on his birthday.  He's still trying to get over it - what a doozy!  He's been coughing like crazy, but as always, he's keeping up a fairly happy attitude.  How did we get so lucky to have a joyful baby like Kellan?  We just wish there was something we could do to get him better quickly.  Any tips?
This picture was taken today.  As you can see, you'd hardly know Kellan was ill with that bright smile!
By the way, do you see the bump on his forehead (left side)?  His first major goose egg came from falling into the bookcase at daycare (his favorite place to hang out).  He's sure to be sporting a colorful bruise any day now!

Kellan and His Tongue-Lashings

Kellan LOOOOOOOVES sticking out his tongue.  We thought it was a phase, but he has made a habit of doing it several times a day (especially when he's trying to move about).  Jared says it's something he inherited from his Grandpa...

First Bike Ride

Kellan went on his first bike ride on Monday.  Since it was Memorial Day, we decided to ride to Washelli Cemetery.  Thankfully, the rain let up long enough to let the sun peek through and allow us a pleasant outing.

Cool helmet, huh?

While he did his usual "stoic look" for most of the ride, he did manage a couple of smiles along the way. (you'll just have to believe us)
