A Little of This, a Little of That

We found a new way to keep Kellan upright without having to resort to the confines of a toy or our arms - the hammock!
(Daddy gets the credit for the amazing discovery)

We're trying more solids, and Kellan is slowly getting used to feeding himself.  We still feed him mostly pureed foods, but have been trying items such as plain pasta, bananas, and green beans (as you can see below) to help him further develop his pincher grasp.

Whatchutawkinbout Thatcher?
Cousin Thatcher (and Finley, though not shown) came by for a visit the other day.  We're very happy (and lucky!) to have family so close, especially since the kids are near in age.  Can't wait for Kellan and Thatcher to start toddling around with each other!

Mommy had a rattle when she was a baby that made a delightful chiming sound.  Grandma Pat found it and gave it to Kellan as a "new" toy - he really likes it!

We visited the Ludwigs in Bellingham last weekend.  Faith is exactly 7 months younger than Kellan, and is completely ah-doooooooor-ah-bul!  Looks like Kellan is trying out his "cradle robbing" skills by planting a kiss on Faith (she doesn't seem too impressed, however).
Sidenote: This was the first time Kellan actually gave a kiss! Hope he's not turning into a "Georgie Porgie"...

Here are a couple other pics from recent weeks that made us smile

P.S.!
Forgot to mention that Mommy saw Kellan pull up to a stand all by himself at home today!  He's done it a lot at daycare (so they tell us), but this was the first time it was seen at home.  We're so proud of our growing boy!

Super Kellan!

The other night, Kellan felt like his special powers were needed.  What else to do, but don the clothing of his alter-ego, Super Kellan!
He's SUPER! (just like the onesie says)

We're not quite sure of all his superpowers yet, but he can definitely crawl as though someone's life depended on it

What form!

Don't worry Kellan. We think you're super, even if you can't fly!

We're so lucky to have a superhero in the family!

(special thanks to Aunt Bun for the SUPER outfit!)

Old Toy, New Toy, Some Fatherly Advice, and Updates

We're fortunate that Kellan has an abundance of toys to play with, as he gets bored fairly quickly with the "same ol', same ol'".  However, there are generally two exceptions to the rule:

He really seems to enjoy the stainless steel bowl from a nesting set Mommy has - he bangs things on it, pushes it around and puts smaller toys in it, and occasionally likes to wear it as a hat

He also really likes a recent addition to his goodies - a sort of "exersaucer" with a seat that moves around the toys, instead of the toys surrounding the seat.  He squeals with delight each time he gets to use it.

When Jared gets home, he likes to have some one-on-one playtime with Kellan.  One particular evening, it appeared as though he was counseling Kellan:

Kellan's reaction to Daddy's advice ;-)

Other Kellan updates:
* He is still drooling, but still toothless
* He has another cough/cold (sigh)
* He's crawling all over the place - using the "army crawl"
* He continues to love vegetable purees, but also really likes fruit/veggie puffs and yogurt melts
* He waves "hello" (but doesn't quite understand goodbye)
* He is using the word "mama" a lot when Mommy is around - first word??

Kellan Gets A Gold Star!

I guess our little boy is growing up.  Turns out Kellan pulled himself up for the first time using the exersaucer at daycare on Friday:
This is the note his caregivers left on his daily report sheet (English is their second language... but you get the idea). :-)  This is HUGE news, as Kellan has been frustrated with not being able to push himself up, other than his torso.

Just a couple of pictures I took while Kellan was on the floor, climbing over some pillows:
He always gets the biggest grin when he can get higher than the floor. :-)
You'll notice he still has no teeth, but is super-drooly... maybe this month is the month we spot some pearly whites??

Adorable, isn't he?

And also, we bought Kellan a walker/rider toy, and he's been practicing standing with it (although, he doesn't seem too interested in walking... he just likes to play with the gadgets right now)

He's 10 months old today!  Man, that sounds awfully close to a year.  Let's not get too ahead of ourselves, though.  Time is flying by quickly enough as it is!
