What Makes Kellan Laugh?

We recently visited Ian and Justyn in the hospital to welcome the newest member to the family, Thatcher Henry Freeman (how cute is he????)
Thatcher Henry Freeman

Somehow, Ian discovered that Kellan found it hilarious to watch him thump his hand around... so here's the video. Hope it brings a smile to your face!

Sunny Days, Sweeping The Clouds Away...

Are we in a time warp?  Did we hit Spring early this year?  This past weekend was gorgeous weather-wise, so we did our best to get outside and get our Vitamin D!

Still enjoying swing time

Up close and personal

The PeaPod Travel Bed has come in handy on many occasions (thanks, Amy!)

Our neighbor, Nancy, stopped by for a visit while we were outside (click on her name to see her website - she's an amazing glass artist!)

Kellan loves to show off his tongue these days

Even through the mesh, he's as cute as can be

A Picnic At The Park With The Jorgensons

On Saturday, we had scheduled a visit to see Brian, Jessica, Benjamin, and Lacey Jorgenson.  We met at their house and made sandwiches, then headed to a nearby park to eat and play on the slides, shoot hoops, etc.  Benjamin and Lacey are big enough to fully enjoy the playground equipment, but thanks to Daddy, Kellan was able to get in on the fun, too.

Going down the slide!
(you'll notice that Kellan is wearing a girl's jacket - it was chilly, and we forgot his coat, so the Jorgensons allowed us to use one of Lacey's extras... of course, Kellan is totally strong in his masculinity, so it wasn't a problem)

There was a "fire truck" at the playground, so naturally, the boys took to the wheels

Lacey was not left out of the fire truck driving fun!

Benjamin, King of the Slide

Ah, brotherly/sisterly love... is there anything like it?

See ya!

Hooray, an Ear Infection!!

You read that right - I've never been so glad to hear a doctor tell me that Kellan has an ear infection.  The past week or so has been tough with little K-Man, so hearing that it's due to an infection (and not a personality problem) is definitely comforting in a way.  We started him on antibiotics tonight and hope to have our happy, easy-going, smiling baby boy back as soon as possible!

Swing Time, Take 2

About a month ago, we put Kellan in a swing, expecting him to enjoy the ride.  He didn't.  He didn't dislike it, either, though.  So, we tried it again - and it turns out, he thinks it's fun!

I'm definitely not going to like this...

Gotta love the tongue throughout the swinging experience :-)
(Mommy really likes this picture)

In the end, Kellan thought it was great

There was also a really cool jungle gym at the park, which allowed for a fun pic of Daddy and Son

Photos Update

What's that?  You want more pictures of K-Man?  OK, OK... (sheesh) :-)

We like to put things on Kellan's head and watch as he eventually realizes it's there (does that make us cruel parents?... nah.)

He's grabbing for everything these days, especially our faces (and the camera)

Kellan now likes more than hates bath time, thanks to the purchase of an inflatable duck tub and the soothing skills of Daddy.

He still loves his vegetables!  Recently it's been green beans.

Coughing and Food Strikes and Carrots - Oh My!

I've been sorrily absent from blogging recently as Kellan has developed yet another doozy of a cold.  Poor guy - ever since he started going to daycare, he gets a cold about once or twice a month.  We haven't had a full night's sleep in... well gosh, I can't remember the last time!  But, they say kids in daycare are sick about 12 times a year.  Of course, this means he'll be the healthiest Kindergartener in his class, but it's been rough.
We got sort of excited when this cold first started because we thought he was teething.  He started a bit of a food strike; he'd only eat about 1/2 his normal daily intake.  He was cranky, sticking out his tongue all the time, and chewing on everything he could fit into his mouth.  Turns out the symptoms of a cold and teething are very similar. (sigh)  Right now we're dealing with regular coughing fits in the night, and doing our best to ease Kellan's discomfort.
On a happier note, I've found that mixing rice cereal with a bit of formula and whatever fruit/vegetable I'm feeding Kellan tends to make the food more palatable to him.  Today I used carrots, which alone haven't been a big winner, but mixed with the cereal was somewhat of a hit.  We'll see if it works with other foods as well.  I'm surprised that Kellan is still so uninterested in fruits, but I'm happy that at least he seems to appreciate his veggies!  Go peas!
